Het is het ouderwetse verhaal van een ondernemer die op een zolderkamer begon. Jitske Groen van Thuisbezorgd.nl: "Ik had in 2000 misschien 50 gulden startkapitaal. Pas ergens in 2003 zijn we echt begonnen met groei en twee jaar geleden zijn we naar het buitenland gegaan." Inmiddels ziet hij groeicijfers van 60 procent op jaarbasis. Succesverhaal!

Het businessmodel van Thuisbezorgd.nl is even simpel als briljant. Via de websites van Groen kunnen klanten overal in Nederland een pizza bestellen. Die bestelling word doorgegeven aan een pizzabakker in de buurt, die h'm gelijk komt bezorgen. Voor de duidelijkheid: de shoarma-, pizza- andere warme maaltijden worden dus niet door thuisbezorgd.nl zelf gemaakt. Alleen de bestelling gaat via de website. "In Nederland krijgen we 6 procent op iedere bestelling. In andere Europese landen ligt dat soms hoger."

'Een goed domein is goud waard'
E-commerce doet goede zaken deze dagen. Groen kwam onlangs nog in het nieuws door de koop van takeaway.com, een domeinnaam die niet zomaar voor een appel en een ei van de hand ging. "Vergelijk het maar met huizen kopen. Als je een bepaald huis voor ogen hebt zijn er altijd voor dezelfde prijs wel vergelijkbare huizen te koop. Bij domeinnamen is dat anders. Je hebt het, of je hebt hem niet. Je kunt wel een .nu domein kopen, maar dat vertrouwen mensen niet. Een goed domein is goud waard."

'Er is altijd wel ruimte voor een pizza'
"Crisis? Wij behoren tot de laatste sector die de klappen krijgt. Zolang mensen nog een baan hebben is er altijd wel tijd en ruimte voor een pizza." En de cijfers staven het. Met 175.000 bestellingen per maand en een jaarlijkse omzet van 30 miljoen doet Thuisbezorgd.nl het prima. "Voor de duidelijkheid, die 30 miljoen omzet is natuurlijk voor de restaurants. Maar toch."

Chagrijnig als een klant wegloopt
De groeicijfers zijn met 60 procent op jaarbasis gerust fenomenaal te noemen. Het geheim? "Je moet natuurlijk altijd om je uitgaven denken, crisis of niet. En om je klanten. Ik ben er chagrijnig van als er een klant ontevreden wegloopt."
Hoewel Groen een flink aantal projecten in het buitenland heeft lopen valt er volgens hem nog genoeg in Nederland te halen. "Dankzij de crisis is reclame bijvoorbeeld ook veel goedkoper geworden. Vooral de krantenpagina's kosten tegenwoordig soms nog maar de helft."
